2022 to 2023

Looking back on 2022

This year, we saw many great advancements in Brawl Esports. The draft format became the standard in the BSC, and it was quickly improved to include 3 bans per team. Supercell began supporting even more, smaller, grassroots Esports projects with their official partnership with Matcherino. The Supercell x Matcherino program has empowered a countless amount of organizers provide tournaments for their respective communities.

Additionally, Supercell has made Brawl more enticing for big Esports Organizations through their official BSC Partner Program. The program has led to the introduction of 9+ in-game pins and profile pictures to support the partnered organizations. With Zeta Division Zero earning the title of World Champions in Paris, the BSC Partner Program unveiled a sleek, one-of-a-kind, World Champions Gus Skin in the December update. The skin is the first to represent an Esports Organization in-game, and it was met with great reception from the community.

BSC in 2023

The 2023 BSC season is coming faster than you think! The first championship challenge will be open February 3-5th , and the very next weekend will host the February Monthly Qualifiers on the 11th and 12th. There will be a week of rest, followed by the February Monthly Finals on the 25th and 26th (BS Esports).

In these coming Monthly Finals, we can expect greater competition, greater production value, and greater prize pools. In addition, the World Finals prize pool has been announced to increase from $500,000 to $750,000 base prize. Assuming that the prize pool will be doubled by in-game offers, as it has been in the past, the World Finals prize pool is predicted to cap out at 1.5 million dollars.

The largest change for players is the introduction of subregions and dedicated competitive servers for the BSC 2023 season. Here at home, the subregions have been divided into East and West NA. The dedicated servers for the NA subregions are located in Northern Virginia and Los Angeles, California, respectively.

NA Subregion server locations are depicted. NA West (left) and NA East (right).

Rostermania is heating up as teams gear up for the 2023 BSC season. Chasmac Gaming announced a new North American roster featuring players Fade, Juan Carlos, Toast, and RBM. This week, Ezlivi announced that "sometimes change is better," suggesting he will be among new teammates for the 2023 season. Betuchiz, Frixi, and iPain have officially banded together but are still seeking an org to represent. Sources are unclear on whether the Mexico-based roster will select the Western or Eastern NA region.

Brawl House in 2023

Brawl house took some small but great strides in 2022. We provided resources regarding upcoming tournaments for thousands of players through our Discord. We kept the twitter community updated during Monthly Qualifiers with quality graphical representations of the Day-2 brackets. We distributed more than $2,000 in prizes from Matcherino x Supercell program tournaments, and we successfully tried our hand at hosting an Tournament Series for amateurs.

Brawl House always has been, and always will be an adaptive volunteer service for amateurs and professionals alike in the Brawl Esports ecosystem. Our goal is to fill in the gaps not yet filled. To provide service to those who would otherwise not be serviced.

Going into 2023, Brawl House will continue providing the periodical 'In a Nutshell' graphics for the North American competitive ecosystem. Brawl House will continue providing players with all available leads for events and competitions occurring on the North American continent.

Brawl House will also continue providing tournaments for the community, but they will be through a subproject of the structure, known as Brawl House Battles. Many of these tournaments will be streamed live with more hands on administration, to help those who are not so comfortable with playing in tournaments.

In February, Brawl House will birth a special subproject on another continent. Brawl! Oceana will be a tournament structure for players who reside in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). The grassroots tournament ecosystem for ANZ is quite barren at the moment, alongside the absence of a BSC subregion, and this project aims to provide something worthwhile for ANZ players on their home turf.

In quarter 2, Brawl House will begin providing shadowing and networking for aspiring online-tournament organizers and admin in the NA region. Graduated organizers will be knowledgeable on multiple tournament and series formats, be able to administer tournaments in the spirit of healthy competition, and be familiar with the most common tournament platforms in Brawl.

That's all we can share at the moment. Thank you for reading, and we'll see you in 2023!
